In this program, students will evaluate the theories and practices related to the startup development and management of a new business, product, or service. Students will explore entrepreneurial attributes while discovering the practical knowledge, strategy, and skills needed to create a viable business plan. Students learn how to create a plan that attracts financial and leadership support by internal and external stakeholders needed to achieve success.
Program Objective
The program will help the students develop the skills required to evaluate business opportunities, create new ventures, and foster innovation. Additionally, it will hone your problem-solving and decision-making skills and explore the differences between managing start-ups versus large organizations. Analyze organizational development theories and change models currently being employed in organizations.
Students will explore the practical knowledge, strategy, and skills needed to plan for the legal issues, marketing, and the four functions of management involved in a new business, product, or service launch. Students will practice, in a team environment, all the initial steps involved in the entrepreneurial process to achieve success.
Students will learn about the four functions of management as they apply to the small business environment. They will learn the strategies and processes that small businesses employ to manage for success in today’s environment. Nonprofit and for-profit small businesses will be examined. Students will apply strategies and practices through a virtual practicum to a startup business. Decision making and adaptability in the small business environment will be stressed.

Certification/Degree
Candidates successfully completing the program will be awarded a degree in Master of Business Administration from Karnataka State Open University, Mysore.
Program Structure
Each student comes to UBS with unique professional and personal reasons for pursuing a masters degree in business administration. The curriculum includes a range of courses that take advantage of new teaching methods and the reinforcement of basic skills and concepts.
The Program is structured over 4 Semesters , covering Basic Discipline of Management, Core Organizational Functions and Functional Skills.

Learning @ UBS
UBS brings to you a new way of learning that albeit unconventional is every bit as effective and exciting as traditionals classroom based learning.
Our classes are held online, in Virtual Classrooms over the Internet, and are scheduled on early mornings on weekdays and weekends, giving you the flexibility to fit your education into your unique schedule.
They can be attended from your home, with access to a computer and a broadband connection.
Should you miss your class on any given day, you may view it in a recorded format at any time of your convenience later.
Typically, a student will need to put in 6-8 hours of classroom time per week, spread over a 2 hour session every alternate day.
A UBS MBA though flexible, is very demanding. The course schedule is rigorous and asks for total commitment and dedication from the students.
Assignments will typically be given once in two weeks per subject but are at the discretion of the Faculty , and frequency may
vary. Assignments would need to be done and submitted online.
Term end examination will be conducted twice a year by the University. Exams are conducted Online, at test centers in major cities around the country as well as abroad. Students have the flexibility to choose a date and time of their preference for each exam, within a declared Testing Period of two month every six months.
This gives our candidates the flexibility to adjust their test timings , to suit their professional commitments.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who have passed any Bachelor's degree of a recognized University with 50 % marks in the aggregate.
OR
A Graduate who have at least 3 years Full Time experience in a Managerial / Supervisory / Professional Role, after their graduation (Three years Full-Time experience shall be determined as on 1st August of the year of admission).
Selection Procedure
Applications for admission to various programmes are invited through advertisements in major national newspapers in June & December every year. A Program Prospectus is distributed to interested candidates on payment of the applicable fee.
Admissions at UBS are strictly only based on eligibility. UBS is a part of an ODL (Open Distance Learning) system, which is ‘Open’ in nature, and does not differentiate within candidates, on a basis other than eligibility.Thus, candidates who apply, if found eligible by the criteria set in the program, are automatically granted admission.
